Q+A!
Welcome to My (Very) Personal Q+A!
On (some) Tuesdays at 7 p.m. EST, I open my email for you to send me questions and for me to answer! You can ask me about voice overs, my acting experience, ducks, you name it. I’m even willing to answer personal questions….maybe. ;)
Please send your questions to askamandastuff@gmail.com and I’ll post the answers here (almost) every Friday at 7 p.m. EST! Easy enough? Ask away!
Here are all the new questions and my answers! (As of May 12, 2023)
Bedros: Hello! I loved you as Satoshi in K-ON! How is it to play a minor role in a show like that? Did you have to watch other episodes of the show in order to understand how his sister acts in order to get a sense of their relationship? Or did the directors just briefly prep you?
I hadn’t seen the show before (which is usually the case especially when you play a small character because a lot of times they’re not even characters you’ve auditioned for, casting often just throws them at you in the booth and says “here play this part too”) So you’re right, the actor has to rely on the director to give them overall context about what’s going on, who the characters are, and what their relationship is to eachother. We have to rely on directors for context for even leads, but especially for smaller characters or shows that aren’t out yet and we’re not able to look up the episodes before they come out (like for a simul-dub for instance where we’re recording and releasing the episodes at the same time they’re being released in Japan)

Patricia M.: I really enjoyed Ghosts n’ Stuff. Any plans for bringing it back even if it’s an audio version? Thank you for your time.
Oh my god that’s actually a great idea! One of the reasons I had to stop doing it was because I was funding it and paying the crew myself and ran out of money (and we also moved across the country from eacother so it’d be a logistic nightmare) Turning it into an audio podcast would definitely be way cheaper and could bridge the distance problem. I do have a supernatural short story Twilight Zone type anthology series I’m planning on turning into a podcast as well so stay tuned for that!

Robert Lawrence: What can you share about the upcoming ninja storm game?
Unfortunately, nothing because we always sign NDAs (non-disclosure agreements) for video games. So you’ll have to wait and see when you play it!

Animaine: - Have you ever seen someone who looks like a text message?
I don’t know what this means, but I feel like its deep existential meaning is flying over my head and will bother me all night now. Thanks, Animaine.
- What's the cringiest thing you've done in your life that you DON'T regret?
Lead the conga line at my prom. Conga lines aren't super punk rock but everyone had fun so whatever.
- What's your favorite anime opening and ending?
I love all the openings and ending songs to the German dubs of Sailor Moon. They’re all bops and if anyone says otherwise, they’re gonna catch these hands. There’s other great openings and endings but those are the first that came to mind.
Thank you for all the questions that were sent so far! I hope to answer more soon but in the meantime I’ll slowly be answering the hundreds of questions I’ve already received. I’ll be requesting more questions soon but in the meantime, thank you for reading!
